Taiwanese Businesses to Visit Ethiopia
Ethiopia..11-17-2011-A Taiwanese business delegation made up of forty representatives from 29 firms will begin a visit to Ethiopian on the 24th of November. The Taiwanese businesses are primarily interested in the garment and clothing manufacture sector.
The delegation plans to communicate with the Ethiopian business community and can be reached through appointments made via email to the Taiwan Trade Center in Nairobi.
Low wages, Port Djibouti and national security are amongst the factors that attract the Taiwanese business community to Ethiopia said Richard Wu Director of Taiwan Trade Center. The experience that Taiwanese businesses have acquired in other African countries is expected to be an advantage for them in Ethiopia he said.
Taiwanese machines and other products are highly competitive in terms of quality and expense said Wu. Another Taiwanese delegation representing machine manufactures is expected to visit Ethiopia next year.
Taiwan is interested in exporting fabrics, machines and auto parts to Ethiopia and importing Ethiopian leather, hides and skins and Coffee explained Wu.
Ethiopian business people can approach the Taiwanese trade center in Nairobi for information regarding suppliers or trips to Taiwan he said. Taiwan may consider opening an additional trade center in Ethiopia should the trade volume between the two countries increase he added.
So far in 2011 Taiwan exported goods to the sum of 2.7 million US dollars to Ethiopia. An additional 18.3 million US dollars worth of goods were exported from Taiwan to Djibouti with Ethiopia as the ultimate destination of most of the imports.
Taiwan imported 3.5 million US dollars in goods from Ethiopia.
