Ethiopia. 11-16-2011..Ethiopia celebrates the Global Entrepreneurship Week from the 14th to the 20th of November. The event will afford young entrepreneurs an opportunity to develop creativity and form networks according to Michael Fekade Chief Executive Officer of Empact Capital Partners, LLC hosting the event.
Young people with post secondary levels of education are encouraged to take on business initiatives said Michael.
The event will connect stakeholders with policymakers to promote innovative business investments and allow mentoring, networking and inspiration opportunities he explained.
The event will include a presentation from the Faculty of Business and Economics of Addis Ababa University on the progress of entrepreneurship in Ethiopia.
Experienced Ethiopian Entrepreneurs, including Ermias Amelga founder of Access Capital, are expected to discuss various issues in relation to entrepreneurial activities in Ethiopia.
An award will honor the ‘Most Valuable Entrepreneur.’
The Global Entrepreneurship Week was launched in London in 2008 by the Kauffman foundation and Enterprise UK. Ethiopia was not amongst the first 76 countries to note the first event according to Michael.
Empact reached an agreement with Global Entrepreneurship coordinators in August to organize the event in Ethiopia this year.
It is expected that regional institutes of higher education and other stakeholders will show increased participation next year according to Michael.
One hundred twenty countries are expected to mark the Global Entrepreneurship Week this year with over 37,000 activities, 24,000 partners and 7.3 million people taking part.
