Sudan, South Sudan to resume negotiations on May 17

KHARTOUM, May 12 (Xinhua) -- The African Union High-Level Implementation Panel on Sudan (AUHIP) has set May 17 as the date for resuming the negotiations between Sudan and South Sudan in Ethiopia's capital Addis Ababa, Khartoum's Al-Sudani daily reported Saturday.

"The African mechanism for mediation between Sudan and South Sudan has set May 17 as the date for resuming the negotiations between the two countries in Addis Ababa," the paper said, adding that head of the AUHIP Thabo Mbeki has been shuttling between capitals in the region to prepare the atmosphere for the negotiations between Khartoum and Juba.

Ethiopia: State bank to expand more branches in South Sudan

May 10, 2012 (ADDIS ABABA) – The state-owned Ethiopian Commercial Bank (ECB), said it will open more branches in the main towns of South Sudan including one in Upper Nile State going operational in the next few weeks.

ECB was granted regulatory approval by the South Sudan government in January 2009 and shortly after it opened a branch in Juba under the name CBE-Southern Sudan Ltd. with an initial capital of 15 million US dollars.
