African leaders to attend PM Meles Funeral
Addis Ababa August 24/2012 Leaders of various African countries would attend the funeral ceremony of Prime Minister Meles Zenawi scheduled to be on September 2, 2012, ambassadors said.
In a briefing organized for ambassadors based in Addis Ababa by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the interment of the PM Meles here on Friday the Ambassadors of Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda and South Sudan have confirmed that their respective leaders would attend the funeral ceremony.
Accordingly, Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni, Kenyan President Moi Kibaki Rwandese President Paul Kagame and South Sudanese President Salva Kiir Mayardit would attend the interment.
The Ministry said leaders of various countries are expected to attend the funeral ceremony of PM Meles.
According to the Foreign Affairs State Minister Ambassador Berhane GebreKirstos , ambassadors and members of the diplomatic community can express their condolence at a program organized at the Grand Palace on August 27, 2012 from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Similarly, he said leaders and Heads of State and Government of various countries will express their condolences on September 1, 2012.
The interment of the late PM Meles would be held on September 2, 2012
Various segments of the society are expressing their grief at the Grand Palace, he said.
