Ethiopia, UAE conclude investment promotion, protection agreement

Ethiopia and UAE have concluded the reciprocal promotion and investment protection agreement which is hoped to significantly boost the bilateral trade volume and investment flow.

Investment officials from both countries have signed the agreement on Saturday (December 03, 2016) in Abu Dhabi during a high-level Ethiopian delegation visit to the country.

According to Fitsum Arega, Director General of Ethiopian Investment Commission, although the guarantee for protection of investments is already established in Ethiopia's investment law, bilateral agreements of such kind will further encourage companies to invest in the country.

As UAE investors are interested in investing in the hospitality industry, agriculture and agri-food areas; the Commissioner added, the conclusion of this agreement will also bolster the engagement of investors in these areas.

Earlier on Friday (December 02, 2016), Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn and Shiek Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi discussed on ways of expanding the horizons of cooperation between the two countries particularly boosting investments in industry, agriculture and tourism sectors.

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Workneh Gebeyehu also met with Sheik Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International cooperation of UAE, during which the two sides discussed bilateral ties and explored ways of enhancing cooperation between the two countries as well as exchanged views on current regional and international developments of mutual concern.

ዝሕሰብ ኣይከውንን። እዛ ሃገር ንብዙሕ ዘመናት ዴሞክራሲ፣ ማዕርነታዊ ሓድነት፣ ፍትሕን ማዕረ ተጠቃምነትን ዝበሃሉ ናይ ህልውና እሴታት/ክብርታት/ ሓሪሙዋ ዝነበረት ሃገር ብምንባራ ሰላም ኣይነበራን። ኣብዝን ኣብትን ዝለዓሉ ፀረ ወፅዓን መፅቀጥትን ዓመፃት ብሓይሊ እቶም ገዛእቲ ደርብታት ዝጭፍለቕሉ መዋእል ዝነበረ እንትኸውን እቶም ዓመፃት ብዝበርዓኑ ቑፅሪ ድማ ገዛእቲ ኣብቲ ህዝቢ ዘውርድዎ ጭፍጨፋን ግፍዕን ዝገደደ መስካሕክሒ ነይሩ። ግፍዓውን ኣድሎኣውን ስርዓታት ዝፈጠርዎ ቀይዲ በተኽ ምምሕዳር ድማ በብኸባቢኡ ፀረ ሰላምን ሸፋቱን ከም ልቦም ክዕንድሩን ህዝቢ ከበሳብሱን ዕድል ይህቦም ነይሩ። ህዝቢ ነዚ ኩሉ ሓሳረ መከራ ክድዕነን ዝተገበረሉ ምኽንያት ካብ ባህሪ ናይቶም ዝወደቑ ስርዓታት ዝብገስ እዩ። ሎሚ እቲ ዝሓለፈ ፀልማት ኩነታት ሳላ መሪር ቓልስና ተወጊዱ። ናይ ፀልማት ዘበን መግለፅታት ዝነበሩ ኩሎም ወፅዓታትን ምምሕዳራዊ ግፍዕታትን መሳርሒ ዝነበሩ መሓውራት ፈሪሶም መላእ ህዝቢ ሓራ ወፂኡ። ሰላም፣ ዴሞክራሲ፣ ማዕርነታዊ ሓድነትን ጉዕዞ ልምዓትን ምዕባለን ካብ ዝብሰር ድማ እነሆ 25 ዓመት/ርብዒ ክፍለ ዘበን/ ተሳጊርና።

ኣብቶም ዝሓለፉ 25 ዓመት ሃገርና ብቓልሲ ህዝብታት ብዝተረጋገፀ ሕገ-መንግስታዊ ስርዓት ናይ ውልቀ ይኹን ጉጅለ ድልየታት ኣብ ምሉእ ዴሞክራሲያዊ መሰል ብዝተመስረተ መስርሕ ብምትእንጋድ ሓደ ፖለቲካውን ኢኮኖሚያውን ማሕበረሰብ ኣብ ምህናፅ ትርከብ። ዜጋታት ሃገርና ብመንነቶምን ኣረኣእየኦምን ዘለዎም ብዝሓነት ተኸቢሩ ናይ ሓባር ዝኾነት ሃገሮም ዝሃንፅሉ ሕገ መንግስታዊ ስርዓት ብምዝርጋሕ ነዊሕ ርሕቐት ተጓዒዞም ኣለው። ኣብ ከይዲ እዚ ጉዕዞ እዚ ድማ ኣፈላላያት ዝተኣናገድሉን ፀገማት ዝፍትሕሉን ንኹሉ ብማዕረ ዝርእን ዝቕበልን ግልፂ ሕገ መንግስታዊ መስርሓት ተቐሚጡ ኩሉ ዜጋ እናተጠቐመሉ ይርከብ።

እቲ ሓቂ እዚ እናሃለወ ሓደ ሓደ ሕቡእን ቅሉዕን ኣጀንዳ ዝሓዙ ሓይልታት ንህንፀት ስርዓት ዴሞክራሲ ተባሂሎም ብመሪር ናይ ህዝብታት ቃልስን መስዋእትነትን ዝተፈጠሩ ዕድላት ንጥፍኣት ኣጀንደኦም መሳርሒ ክጥቀምሎም እንትፍትኑ ፀኒሖም እዮም። ሰላማውን ናይ ህዝቢ ጉዳያትን ኣብ ውሽጢ ዝመስሉ ኣጀንዳታት ንባዕሎም ሓቢኦም ነቲ ሕገ-መንግስታዊ ስርዓት ንምፍራስ፣ ሃገር ንምብታንን ህዝቢ ብናይ ጥፍኣት ዕላማኦም ነንባዕሉ ክዋዳእ ንምግባርን ልኡኽ ሒዞም ብተደጋጋሚ እናተንቀሳቐሱ ፀኒሖም።

እዞም  ካብ  ውሽጢ ክሳብ ደገ ናይ ጥፍኣት መርበብ ዝዘርግሑ ብትምክሕትን ፀቢብነትን ዝተኣኻኸቡ ጉጅለታት ከምኒ ሻዕብያ ብዝበሉ ኢትዮዽያ ናይ ምሕማስ ሕልሚ ብዘለዎም ግብረ ራዕዲ ሓይልታት ግልፂ ብዝኾነ መንገዲ እናተመርሑን እናተሓገዙን ኣብ ዝተፈላለዩ ከባብታት ሃገርና ናይ ጥፍኣት ዕላማኦም ንምትግባር ብዙሓት ፈተነታት ኣካይዶም ኣይሰመረሎምን። ናይቲ በብእዋኑ ዝገብርዎ ፍሹል ምንቅስቓስ መቐፀልታ ኣብዚ ቅነታት ከም ዝተርኣየ ኣብ ሰሜን ጎንደርን ከባቢኡን እውን ተመሳሳሊ ናይ ግብረ ራዕድን ሽፍትነትን ተግባራት ዝፍፅምሉ፣ በዚ ምኽንያት እውን ህይወትን ንብረትን ህዝቢ ዝጠፍኣሉ ኩነታት ተፈጢሩ እዩ።

ከም ዝፍለጥ ዝኾነ ሰብ ወይ ጉጅለ ኣብ ዝኾነ ይኹን ከባቢ ሰላማዊ ኣብ ዝመስሉ ኣጀንዳታት ንባዕሉ ሓቢኡ ሕገ መንግስታዊ ስርዓት ንምፍራስ እንትህቅን መንግስትን ህዝብን ኣእዳዎም ኣጣሚሮም ክርእይዎ ኣይኽእሉን። መንግስቲ ምስ ህዝቢ ኮይኑ ተኸታቲሉ ከምክኖም ግቡእን ሓላፍነትን ኣለዎ። ብዕጥቂን ብዝተወደበን መንገዲ ሕገ መንግስታዊ ስርዓት ኣብ ሓደጋ ንምውዳቕን ንምፍራስን ዝግበር ዝኾነ ዓይነት ውዲት መንግስቲ ክምክቶን ከምክኖን ካብ ምኽኣል ብተወሳኺ ኣብዚ ገበን ዝሳተፉ ኣካላት ናብ ሕጊ ክቐርቡ ክገብር እውን ግቡኡን ሓላፍነቱን እዩ።

ኣብዚ ዝሓለፈ ሰሙን ነዛ ኣብ ህንፀት ኸይዲ ዴሞክራሲን ቀፃሊ ምዕባለን ውራይ ተፀሚዳ ትርከብ ሃገር ንምብፅባፅን ንምፍራስን ልኡኽ ዝተቐበሉ ራዕደኛታት ኣብ ከባብታት ሰሜን ጎንደርን ምዕራብ ትግራይን ኣብ ትሕቲ ሰላማዊ ዝመስል ኣጀንዳ ተኸዊሎም ብዝለዓለ ምውዳድን ውዱብ ብዝኾነ መንገዲን ዓመፅ ንምልዕዓል ዝገበርዎ ፈተነ፣ ካብዚ ብምብጋስ መንግስቲ ሕገ መንግስታዊ ስርዓት ካብ ሓደጋ ክሕሎ ንምግባር ዘለዎ ግቡእ ዝፈፀመሉ ኣገባብ ብመራኸብቲ ሓፋሽ ዕላዊ ተገይሩ እዩ። እዞም ብጉጅለ ዝተወደቡ ውልቀ ሰባት ንዝኾነ ይኹን ኣጀንዳ ህዝቢ ዘይውክሉ እኳ ደኣስ ናይ ኣርበኞች ግንባር፣ ጉንበት ሰባትን ሻዕብያን ዝኣመሰሉ ሓይልታት ጥፍኣት ዕሱባት ኮይኖም ህይወት ሰለማውያን ነበርቲ እናቖንፀሉን ንብረት ህዝቢ እናብረሱን እናዘረፉን ዝፀንሑ ገበነኛታት እዮም። ኣብዝሓ ኣባላት ናይቱ ጉጅለ መንግስቲ ምስ ህዝቢ ኮይኑ ንዝገበሮ ክትትል ስዒቡ ኣብ ቁፅፅር እንትውዕሉ ኣብ ውሽጢ ህዝቢ ዓሪዶም ኣብ ልዕሊ ሓይልታት መንግስቲ ቶኽሲ ዝኸፈቱ ገለ ናይቲ ጉጅለ ኣባላት ድማ ዝድለ ስጉምቲ ተወሲዱሎም ኣሎ።

ሕገ መንግስታዊ ስርዓትና ብመሰረቱ ይትረፍ ከምዚ ዝበሉ ፀረ ህዝቢ ልኡኽ ሒዞም ኣብ ቅንፀላን ዘረፋን ዝዋፈሩ ውልቀ ሰባትን ጉጅለታትን ከም ሃገር ክመፅእ ንዝኽእል ዝኾነ ይኹን ናይ ሰላምን ድሕንነትን ሓደጋ እውን ናይ ምምካትን ቁልጡፍ ግብረ ምላሽ ናይ ምሃብን ዓቕሚ ዝፈጠረ ምዃኑ ግልፂ እዩ። ነዚ እውን እቲ እንኽተሎ ዘለና ንውሽጥና ዝጠመተ ናይ ሰላም ልምዓትን ህንፀት ዴሞክራስን ኣንፈት ትኽክለኛ እምነት ኣብ መላእ ህዝቢ ብምፍጣሩ እቲ ህዝቢ ሓንጎፋይ ኢሉ ዓቂቡ እናስተማቐሮ ይኸይድ ብምህላዉ ከምዚ ዝበሉ ናይ ህውከትን ዕግርግርን ኣጀንዳታት ዝፃወረሉ እንግድዓ የብሉን።

ፌደራል መንግስቲ ነቶም ዝተፈላለዩ ፀረ ሰላም ተግባር እናፈፀሙ ድሕሪ ምፅናሕ ኣብ ከተማ ጎንደር ንዝዓረዱ ናይ ጥፍኣት ሓይልታት ተለኣኣኽቲ ናብ ሕጊ ንምቕራብ ብሕጋዊ መንገዲ ኣብ ዝተንቀሳቐሰሉ እዋን ንዘጋጠመ ናይቶም ግብረ ራዕዲ ግብረ መልስን ዝተወሰነ ዕግርግርን ኣብ ምእላይ ህዝቢ ዘርኣዮ ምትሕብባርን ፃዕርን በዚ መዳይ ኣዐርዩ ዝድነቕ እዩ። ከምቲ ናይ ርሑቕን ቀረባን ፀላእትን ናይ ማሕበራዊ ሚድያ ሃርበኛታትን ዝሓልምዎ ህዝቢ ምስ ህዝቢ ብምግጫው ካብ መሰረታዊ መትከሉ ከውፅኡዎ ኣብዝን ኣብትን ኮይኖም ዝብትንዎም መሕፈሪ በለካ ለኸዐካ ዝፈሸለሉን መልሓሶም ዝሓየኹሉን ናይ መንግስትን ህዝብን ግብረ መልሲ ዕውት ብዝኾነ መንገዲ ዝተፈፀመሉን ተግባር ኮይኑ ተዛዚሙ ኣሎ።

ሎሚ ፅባሕ ኮነ ቐፃሊ ክፍለጥ ዘለዎ ጉዳይ ብምኽንያት እቲ ተፈጢሩ ዘሎ ኣብ ማዕርነት ዝተመስረተ ሃገራዊ ሓድነት ዝኾነ ህዝቢ ምስ ካልእ ህዝቢ ዘገራጩን ብፅልኢት ዘረኣእይን ምኽንያት የብሉን። እንተ ኾይኑሎም ህዝቢ ምስ ህዝቢ ከነኻኽሱ ብኹሉ ዓቕሞም ዝፅዕሩ እቶም ትማሊ ብቓልስና ዝሰዓርናዮም ተረፍ መረፍ ሓይልታት ትምክሕቲ፣ ፀቢብነትን ናይ ሻዕብያ ተለኣኣኽትን ኣብዝን ኣብትን ዘሎ ኣጀንዳ ብምንብድባድ ስርዓትና ንምፍራስን ማዕርነታዊ ሓድነት ህዝብታት ኣብ ሓደጋ ንምውዳቕን ዝገብርዎ ፈተነ ንቕድሚት እውን መልክዑ እናቐያየረ ምቕፃሉ ኣይተርፍን። ይኹን እምበር ከቢድ ዋጋ ዝኸፈልናሉ ሰላምና፣ ዴሞክራሲና፣ ማዕርነታዊ ሓድነትናን ከይዲ ልምዓትናን ከይኹለፍ ዝዓበየ ቃልስን ጥብቅናን ካብ ህዝቢ ትፅቢት ይግበር። ብህውከትን ዕግርግርን ፖለቲካዊ መኽሰብ ንምሽማት ህርዲግ ዝብሉ ዘለዉ ኩሎም ክራይ ኣከብቲ ሓይልታት ፈፂሙ ከምዘይከኣል ህዝብና ከምልማዱ ከምህሮም ይግባእ።

The idiocy yet unprofessional behavior of Aljezeera and violation of ethics of Journalism

On August 14, 2016 Aljezeera aired it's show "Inside Story". The show is supposed to be about Ethiopia Government. The show started with host making false allegation towards Ethiopian Government.  Then the host passed it Charles Stratford who is stationed in Ethiopia. Mr Charles Stafford makes blatant yet unfounded narrative that the Oromo and Amhara are joining forces. Charles didn't make sense at all. His report was vague.  Then the opportunity is given Tsedale Lemma. Tsedale makes bizarre reporting from Ethiopia which are untrue. I guess Tsdale and Charles are "Ethiopian station reporter" for Al Jazeera :)

Now the host gives the chance to Mr Getachew Reda for his side of the story. The host was aggressive and disrespectful towards Mr Getachew even interrupting him before he could answer her.

Then there are two more people on the panel anti Ethiopian Government guests Ezikel Gebissa from America and Felix Horne of Human Right Watch. They both regurgitate the usual talking points. Ezikel Gebissa makes bizarre allegation that Ethiopian can't go out to play or engage in daily life. That is a lie. The host should have challenged him on that lie. Felix Horne who is supposed to be human right watch didn't address the plight of Tigray people in Gonder. He ignored that for a reason.

Finally,  5 people against 1 person debate was unfair to say the least.  Aljezeera should have invited other people that can balance out the ratio. What was the rationale to have Mr Getachew debate FIVE People? unless it was done on purpose. This is unfair for the viewers and gives bad name for journalism.

Ethiopians Are Supporting Hillary for President

After carefully polling and researching yet engaging in healthy discussion,  I have concluded that majority of Ethiopian are supporting Hillary Clinton for president of the US.

Many Ethiopian whom I polled and asked have raised many reasons for supporting Hillary Clinton. These Ethiopian believe that Hillary will bring prosperity. They also believe as a woman she will be a great example for millions of people who aspire in leadership.

Many Ethiopian remember that her husband ex President Clinton have brought great prosperity. His presidency allowed many people to own house and business. The economy at his time was stable. 

It is my analysis, Ethiopian should vote for Hillary since she has great relationship with Ethiopian.

Ethiopian American irked at auction of Haile Selassie watch.

Ethiopian-Americans in Denver and other U.S. cities are demanding that a Swiss wristwatch owned by the late Emperor Haile Selassie be returned to his royal descendants.

They have been working with Selassie's grandson to persuade the auction house Christie's to halt a sale. This week, Christie's officials agreed to withdraw the watch, which is valued between $520,000 and $1 million.

Aster was appointed on Tuesday and was sworn in before the House of Peoples' Representatives. This makes her the first woman to be appointed to serve with the rank of deputy PM. Prior to her appointment she was serving as advisor to the PM and Chief Government Whip. Apart from her latest appointment, Aster was recently elected to be the deputy chairwoman of OPDO. Israel offers to mediate Ethiopia-Egypt dam row

Friday, March 07, 2014 ADDIS ABABA – Israeli Agriculture Minister Yair Shamir has voiced Israel`s readiness to assist Egypt and Ethiopia reach agreement over the latter`s construction of a multibillion-dollar hydroelectric dam on the Nile River.According to Ethiopia`s state-run news agency, Shamir made the remarks at a Thursday meeting in Addis Ababa with Ethiopian Prime Minister Hailemariam Dessalegn.The agency did not specify how Israel intends to assist both countries in ironing out their differences over the dam.Relations between Ethiopia and Egypt soured last year over construction of Ethiopia`s Grand Renaissance Dam on the upper reaches of the Nile – Egypt`s main source of water.The controversial project raised alarm bells in Egypt, the Arab world`s most populous country, which fears a reduction of its traditional share of Nile water.Water distribution among Nile Basin states has long been based on a colonial-era agreement granting Egypt and Sudan the lion`s share of the river`s water.Addis Ababa insists the new dam will benefit downstream states Sudan and Egypt, both of which will be invited to purchase electricity thus generated.-Welcomed-Ethiopia`s Foreign Ministry, for one, welcomed Israel`s offer."Any country like Israel may raise such idea and Ethiopia appreciates this," Jemal Beker, director of Middle East affairs at the ministry, told Anadolu Agency.He said Ethiopia was ready to negotiate a "win-win solution" with Egypt based on the framework of a tripartite dialogue initiative that also includes Sudan and an international panel of experts."There`s a technical negotiation underway," Beker said. "It has no political nature.""Egypt withdrew from the tripartite negotiation," said the diplomat. "But Ethiopia believes Egypt will be back and negotiations will continue."The state news agency quoted the dam`s chief engineer, Simegnew Bekele, as saying that a full one third of the project had been completed.Bekele added that the project`s total workforce would be raised from 7500 to 13,000 in the months ahead.

Released South Sudan Detainees In Ethiopia for Peace Talks

NAIROBI — Seven former political detainees from South Sudan arrived in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa on Wednesday to join talks aimed at resolving the crisis in the world's newest nation, a spokesman for anti-government negotiators told VOA. Yahanis Musa Pouk said by phone that the team of seven former detainees arrived in Addis Ababa from Nairobi Wednesday evening. Opposition negotiators had threatened to boycott the second round of talks unless several demands were met, including that the former detainees, who were released to the custody of the Kenyan president in late January, be allowed to travel to Ethiopia to take part in the negotiations. The opposition withdrew its boycott threat after Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) mediators assured them that the seven would be allowed to attend the talks.

Israel, Canada firms to jointly develop potash mine in Ethiopia

Feb 13,2014 JERUSALEM, Feb. 13 (Xinhua) -- Israel Chemicals (ICL), the world's sixth largest potash producer, announced Thursday it will partner with Allana Potash of Canada to develop a potash mine in Ethiopia. The so-called Danakhil potash project is located in the Dallol region of Ethiopia's northeast Afar province. "The Danakhil mine will provide potash for Ethiopia and Africa, and, combined with ICL's agronomic fertilization know-how, will enable local farmers to increase agricultural output and food for the region," said Stefan Borgas, president and CEO of ICL.
